This photo was taken during a performative art piece I did for my concepts and practices class. I painted with my hands in front of a busy building on campus. As you can see, I got mixed reactions.
About Me
Hi, I’m Shelby Dixon — a 24-year-old artist based in sunny Tampa, Florida. I graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art, where I focused on ceramics and printmaking. While those are my main passions, I also paint and create bleached and printed shirts, exploring different ways to make art part of everyday life.
My work is inspired by the natural world, especially creatures from the past and present. Dinosaurs, insects, and skeletons fascinate me — they appear again and again in my pieces as symbols of curiosity, history, and transformation. I’ve even sculpted several dinosaur skulls from clay, combining scientific forms with my own artistic vision.
Whether it’s through clay, ink, paint, or fabric, I strive to make work that connects people to the wonder of the natural world and the stories hidden within it. Thank you for stopping by and exploring my art!
